We're taking the kids this weekend to see the new Avengers movie. While perusing information on it on-line this morning, I was irrationally happy to see that Hayley Atwell will be making a short appearance as Agent Carter in a 1940's flashback scene. Be still my swoony little fangirl heart.
Because the internet is just one big rabbit hole, this news shortly lead me to review of the first Captain America that I believe Roger Ebert wrote. There was one like about Peggy Carter, despite her being a huge part of the film. I think it said something about how her red lipstick made her look like a classic 40's pinup. I love Peggy, and the internet knows I love her lipstick, but Mr. Ebert missed the point. Peggy Carter is totally kick ass whilst wearing amazing red lipstick.
In short order, I found myself at www.besamecosmetics.com home of Peggy Carter's red velvet lipstick. Which will, one day, be mine. Like no one else my age, I loathe internet shopping, because then you have to pay for shipping, which makes me irrationally irritated. Unfortunately for me, the only brick and mortar Besame store is the flagship store in Burbank.
Per their website, it is here:
Besame Cosmetics Flagship Boutique
3505 W Magnolia Blvd
Burbank, CA 91505 USA
Open noon to 6pm Tuesday thru Saturday
Closed Sunday & Monday
Do me a favor if you live in, or are visiting California. Go. And then come back and tell me all about it.
But I also know they sell a select few products at Sephoras everywhere. To be specific, their violet and vanilla brightening powders. Which, by the way, are totally vintage and adorable, and I will own one of them too, as soon as I figure out which one I want (I'm leaning toward vanilla, in case anyone was curious.)
I wish that they sold the lipsticks though, to save me the shipping that I disdain so much. And that lead to this:

Now, what I am pretty sure that says is that as of May 5th, Besame lipsticks will be sold online at Sephora, but that maybe if you order in store or select ship to store its free shipping? I am not entirely sure, but it seems like a great start! I was even more excited about the red lip gift sets in October part!

Basically, what the lovely Christina just said is that the THREE BEST REDS EVER are going to be packaged together as a gift set!! I am sure it will cost some asinine amount $60-$70 probably, but still!!!
Noir red is a 1930's style red (Red Velvet is 1940's, obvs) its dark and super vampy. Besame red is 1920's style hot tamale red. It is RED. I want to wear them all.
October is months away, but these are basically every red you could ever want tied up with a bow, in gorgeous vintage packaging. Happiness.
In other news, Hayley Atwell, because of her shooting schedule, recently renewed her driver's license in full on Peggy Carter attire. I love her. Google it. She is the best.
